Antony and Cleopatra – The story of the last Pharaoh of Egypt and the dashing Roman general
Cleopatra VII was one of the most famous women in history and was the brilliant and beautiful last Pharaoh of Egypt. Cleopatra was often portrayed as a femme fatale, but what you may not know is that Cleopatra was a deeply religious lady who had once studied to be a nun. She was academically accomplished as well. She was a mathematician and gifted linguist fluent in nine different languages, which is truly admirable for such a stately figure. Cleopatra was also skilled politician who was popular with her people. In a nutshell, one could say Cleopatra was a dream girl of her times!
Despite all her accomplishments, what she was famously known for was her epic romance with dashing Roman general, Marc Antony. Despite her previous indiscretions, it is said that Anthony & Cleopatra were very much in love and had married despite the political risk and the opposition by the Roman politicians. However, in the end, like all epic love stories – theirs ended in a tragedy…At a time when the combined forces of Antony and Cleopatra in the battle of Actium were defeated; hearing a false report that Cleopatra was dead, Antony fell on his sword. With no hope left, Cleopatra induced a poisonous asp to bite her…
Such devotion & sacrifice could only inspire us this February, when we are celebrating Love

Abelard and Heloise - A monk and a nun whose love letters revealed their sacrifice and loyalty
The tragic story of Abelard and Heloise has resonated through the ages. Around 1100, Peter Abelard had come to Paris to study at the school of Notre Dame, and later gained a reputation as an outstanding philosopher.
Fulbert, the canon of Notre Dame, hired Abelard to tutor his niece, Heloise. Abelard and the scholarly Heloise had fallen deeply in love, conceived a child, and secretly married. Heloise’s uncle had been was furious upon finding out about this, so Abelard, fearing for Heloise’s safety, had her sent to a convent.
This selfless action of Abelard had been misinterpreted by Heloise’s uncle – thinking that Abelard intended to abandon Heloise, so Fulbert had his servants castrate Abelard while he slept. After this incident, Abelard decided to become a monk and devoted his entire life to learning. The heartbroken Heloise became wanted no other life without Abelard and so she became a nun.
What is amazing is that despite their separations and tribulations, Abelard and Heloise remained forever in love, devoted only to each other and to God. Their poignant love letters were later published – which is how the world came to know of this tragic romance which had taken place between two ordinary people who were a part of an extraordinary lover story…..

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Put the dot to obesity!
A report published by the World Health Organization in 1998 highlighted obesity as a growing global epidemic, alerting of an emerging health hazard to the entire world. The primary cause of obesity is found to be wrong food habits and lack of exercises, which happens to be unforeseen consequences of technical advancement and development of economies.
For years it was believed that green tea could have beneficial effects on weight management. Recent research suggest that green tea may reduce the rate of absorption of carbohydrate without adversely affecting a person’s nutritional status, and may further release carbohydrates and promote burning of stored fat. Research has revealed that persons who include green tea in their diet may reduce their weight faster than the persons who are simply dieting. For thousands of years green tea has been a staple of China, Japan and in many other countries in the Far East. However never be myopic to believe that drinking green tea alone would shed pounds overnight. Introduce nutritious and healthy food to your diet, not forgetting a few cups of green tea accompanied with adequate exercise to your life style. Green tea will bring you closer to your dream of having the perfect figure and a healthier life.
